Bodrum has two rhythms and you dress for both.
There are the boat days — long, salt-soaked, barefoot, where you are in and out of the water so often that anything requiring a decision is a burden. And there are the evenings in town, where the marina restaurants fill up and the standard quietly rises.
The trick to packing for the Turkish Riviera is recognising that these are not two wardrobes. They are one wardrobe worn two ways.
The seven-day formula
For a week, this is genuinely enough: three swim pieces, two cover-ups (one short, one long), one kaftan for evenings, and one pair of flat sandals that survive both a wooden jetty and a cobbled street.
That is it. Everything else is optional, and most of it comes home unworn.
Why three swim pieces, not five
Elastane needs about a day to recover its shape after wear. Three pieces in rotation means each one gets a proper rest, and all three come home in the condition they left in.

The boat day
Swim piece, cover-up, hat, and nothing you would mind losing over the side.
The swim skirt earns its place here. Worn low on the hip over a bikini, it takes you from swimming to a beach club lunch without a change — and unlike a dress, it does not mind being wet. Pack a spare in a dry bag. Everything on a boat gets wet eventually, including the things that were not supposed to.
The town evening
Bodrum's marina restaurants are relaxed but not careless. A silk kaftan or a beach skirt worn high-waisted with a plain top reads as a considered outfit rather than a cover-up — and it is the same piece you swam in that morning.
Add one piece of jewellery, flat sandals, and you are done.
Why the palette works there
The Aegean is a specific colour — pale green through to deep teal depending on depth and hour. Bodrum's light is bright and slightly hazy, which flattens strong colour and washes out anything too pale.
Greens and soft neutrals hold their tone in that light. Very bright white tends to glare in photographs; very dark navy reads as heavy. It is a small thing, and it is the difference between a holiday photograph you like and one you delete.
What to leave at home
Heels — Bodrum is cobbles, jetties and boat decks. A separate beach bag and evening bag; one good tote does both. More than one pair of sunglasses, because you will lose one. And anything requiring ironing.
